Sarah Stringer was born abt. 24 Aug 1828 in Caledon, Ireland (Mullaghmossa Townland). Christened on 24 Aug 1828 in Caledon, Ireland (Aghaloo, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland). She died in 1922 in Dysart, Tama County, Iowa, USA. She is buried in Rampton Cemetery, located in Section 9, Monroe Township, Benton County, Iowa, USA. She was the daughter of John Stringer and Susanna Collins of Caledon, Ireland.
He married Sarah Stringer in
1853 in New York, USA. They had six children:

William Alexander Boyd. He was
born 1857 in Benton County, Iowa, USA. He died in 1931 in Benton County,
Iowa, USA. He is buried in Rampton Cemetery. He did not marry.
John M. Boyd. He was born Feb
1859 in Benton County, Iowa, USA. He died 1910-1915 in Lyon County, Iowa,
USA. He married Clara (or Clotha) C. Pruitt Abt. 1889 in Benton County,
Iowa, USA. She was born Mar 1869 in Bartholomew County, Indiana.
They had no children.
Mary E. Boyd. She was born Jun
1860 in Bruce Township, Benton County, Iowa, USA. She married Milan Brown
about 1890. He was born Mar 1855 in Indiana, USA. They had 5
children, but only one, Millard M., born Mar 1892 in Colorado, was still living
in 1900. They lived in Nebraska until her death 1910-1920.
Thereafter Milan lived in California, then Oregon.
Abraham Fulton Boyd. He was
born Jan 1863 in Benton County, Iowa, USA. He sold farm implements in
Dysart, Tama County, Iowa (adjacent to Benton County). He never married and
died in 1936. He is buried in Rampton Cemetery.
Margaret Boyd. She was born
about 1866 and died in Feb 1891 at the age of 13y 7m 3d. She is buried in
Rampton Cemetery.
According to a 1876 biography (see below) he emigrated to the USA in 1848, and came to Benton County, Iowa in 1855 - thus their marriage and the birth of their first child was in New York. There is a single William Boyd in the 1850 census in Ward 14 of New York City, working as a baker, who may or may not be the same William Boyd. He is living with a John Boyd and family who would be a brother. William and Sarah Boyd first settled in Section 32 of Bruce Township, apparently where A. F. Boyd (one of their sons) is indicated on the 1917 Benton County Map.

Dysart; born in Ireland in Jan., 1812; emigrated to America in Dec., 1848; came to Benton Co. in 1855; has 440 acres of land, valued at $35 per acre. Married Sarah Stringer in 1853; she was born in Ireland in 1817 [sic probably 1827]; they have six children - George L., William A., Mary E., John M., Abram F. and Margaret. Republican; members of the Presbyterian Church. Is Township Trustee. Mr. Boyd is the oldest settler of his neighborhood, and has made the fine improvements on his farm by his own industry." [she could not have been born in 1817, or her last child was at age 49; her baptism is 24 Aug 1828].
