Helene Christine "Lena" Külmar was born 25 Apr 1830 in Reichensachsen, Hesse, Germany and christened there 09 May 1830. She was the daughter of Johann Martin Külmar (21 Mar 1790, Reichensachsen, Hesse, Germany - 22 Jul 1872, Reichensachsen, Hesse, Germany) and Anna Elisabeth Vaupel (03 May 1796, Reichensachsen, Hesse, Germany - 22 Jan 1860, Reichensachsen, Hesse, Germany). She died 17 Feb 1867 in Reichensachsen, Hesse, Germany and was buried there 20 Feb 1867.
They were married 22 Feb 1852 in Reichensachsen, Hesse, Germany. They had seven children, only three of whom survived to maturity:

After Helene's death at the early age of 36, Wilhelm remarried to Christine Maria Rathgeber (30 Jun 1846, Netra, Hesse, Germany - 12 Jun 1919, Reichensachsen, Hesse, Germany), the daughter of Jacob Rathgeber and Dorothea Heinlein. They had three children:
