Notes:

J.H. Walzl advertised in the Photographic Times (a Scovill publication) during the 1870's and early 1880's.  R. Walzl continued the photographic supply business if not the publications and advertising.  As an importer or manufacturer of lenses, business apparently waned in the presence of both Scovill and Anthony having deals for lenses bearing their names.

J.H. Walzl published numerous editions of an annual, large, softcover book, "The Photographer's Friend", as well as shorter periodical-like editions under the name "Walzl's Photographic Journal and the Photographer's Friend", which provided instructions for making a living through photography, as well as advertisements for equipment and materials.
