Catalogs

The source of the data on manufacturing companies, their products and years of production on this web site is usually obtained from original catalogs and books that were printed contemporaneously with the cameras themselves.  Such catalogs are always more rare and sometimes more valuable than the cameras described or illustrated inside them.  This web site contains scans, sometimes selected pages but often all pages, of these catalogs.  The links below lead to indexes grouped by manufacturer, or in one case, the location of Chicago.  Each group is further organized in chronological order of publication.

How to Enjoy the Catalog Pages
Browse
If interested in a particular manufacturer, follow the links below to an index page having thumbnails, titles and years from which to choose.  If generally interested in all manufacturers or certain years, follow the <All Catalogs> link.  You are thus able to browse the scanned pages one by one (actually two by two, since catalogs are usually depicted as if they are lying open on your knees).  Some books have also been converted to pdf, which you may open online, or save to your own computer for later viewing.  Some enterprising pirates are selling cd-roms of my scans on eBay - why would you pay for them when you can download them for free here.  On the other hand, if you want scans of every extant Kodak catalog (I have only a few here), do buy the Digitized Kodak Project cd-rom scanned by Rob Niedermann and Milan Zahorcak.

 Links
Where a scanned catalog has description or depiction of an object shown on the artifact pages, a link will be embedded into the description/depiction area that will lead to an example photograph or photographs of the object.  Conversely, where camera models, variations, or other items have known corresponding descriptions or depictions in a catalog, a reference to the catalog is listed near the bottom of the artifact page.  In addition, if the description or depiction has been scanned, the reference contains an embedded link that leads directly to the applicable scanned page or pages.

The following are links to lists of catalogs specific to one manufacturer or a group of related manufacturers:
