References: The Betax shutter is reported to have been patented in 1912, but the patent is not indexable (the google patent index has many errors from the optical character recognition used to transcribe the images).  It is also reported to have been patented in 1922, which may be the correct date because the Betax is not advertised in the 1920 Wollensak catalog, but advertised in the 1922 Wollensak catalog.  In that case, the patent may be the one illustrated below.
