The Elite Shutter was designed and marketed by Scovill Mfg. Co. "for use with" the popular and common Waterbury Lens, which came with many of their view cameras in the 1880s and 1890s. The ad implies that the shutter may be added onto an existing Waterbury Lens, and that may be. However, in the above example, the lens and shutter were manufactured together, and the rotating stops are integral to the shutter rather than the lens, as would be the case if it had been merely added on.
