Notes:
The 76 Camera Variation 1.0 was a long-lived basic design but well finished camera made by Scovill or American Optical. It has a single swing hinged at the bottom of the rear standard. It has a piece of hardware on the top of its rear standard that acts as a combination plate holder clip, ground glass clip and swing adjustment lock. It has non-tapering bellows and a tilt-down, hinged ground glass frame.
Our
counterfeit camera has all these same features, although differing in
shape of brass parts, size of box joints, etc. It appears to have
been stained dark, so that it really would not be mistaken for a genuine
76 camera. I call it counterfeit merely because it has a very
similar design to a 76 Camera.
