As in the 1896 catalog, this catalog contains an engraving of The Empire State that is a throwback to Variation 1, which ROC had stopped making years earlier in favor of the Variation 2. Probably, Montgomery Wards offered whatever the Rochester companies were making currently, regardless of the engraving used.
