Tri-fold Flyer, Eastern Camera Mfg. Company (Chicago, IL), undated c.1901, ~5 ½x8 ½"
Nothing but view cameras here on six pages. Undated, but can be dated to 1901, since the frame-type Anthony NPA Variation 4 and Champion Variation 3 models pictured were not introduced until April, 1900, and the Rochester Camera & Optical Favorite model pictured was discontinued about 1900. The only mention of the Eastern Camera Mfg. Co. (other than this website) is in the Ninth Annual Report of the Factory Inspectors of Illinois, dated 15 Dec 1901, p. 128, under Portraits, Artists' Specialties, Art Novelties: Eastern Camera Mfg. Co., 211-213 Randolph St., total employees - 3 (2 males >16 and 1 female >16). In comparison, Burke & James, on the same page, 109-111 Wabash Ave., had 54 total employees. Since their flyer contains only cameras known to be manufactured by E. & H.T. Anthony and Rochester Camera & Optical Co., Eastern, despite their name, did not manufacture cameras.
