Graflex and Graphic Cameras, Folmer & Schwing Co. (Rochester, NY), dated July 1, 1906, ~5 ½"x7 ½", 32pp

No wooden field cameras here, but as the motto on the title states: "Nothing too quick for a Graflex", there is an extended description of how the Folmer & Schwing focal plane shutter can take shorter duration exposures than the typical lens-mounted shutters of the day.  Such a shutter is built like a window-shade having a series of slits.  The exposure is controlled by a combination of the width of the slit and the speed (spring tension) of the roller - hence the rectangular metal chart of speeds that can be found on each f&s shutter.  The mechanics are such that the folmer & schwing focal plane shutter can out-perform most large-format shutters of 100 years later, at least until its cloth breaks.  The English firm Thorton-Picard also made both focal plane roller blind shutters and behind the lens roller blind shutters.
