Graflex and Graphic Cameras, Folmer & Schwing Department, Eastman Kodak Co. (Rochester, NY), dated 1917, ~6 ½"x9 ½", 64pp

Folmer & Schwing produced a number of distinctive cameras, centering around the use of a focal plane shutter, positioned just before the film rather than at the lens.  The advantage was mainly that very fast shutter speeds could be obtained, making their cameras the staple of sports and news photographers.  Folmer & Schwing was purchased by EKC in 1907, and was a division until 1917, a department until the Folmer-Graflex Corp. was formed in 1926.  This 1917 catalog contains many of the unusual cameras produced by F&S, but not their view cameras, which, while still retaining the F&S name, must have been produced under a different department.  In that this is the end of World War I, there had been significant inflation, already noted under Seneca Catalog T.  For Graflex, the inserted Advance in Prices sheet raises many prices from 10-15% - presumably the inflation since the catalog was printed, no more than a year, and probably more like 6 months.
