Stamp on top of wooden case

Date Introduced: probably 1885 ; Years Manufactured: c. 1885
Construction: back focus via rack and pinion (two gear tracks on top of base rails); single or double swing; three-piece lens board; non-reversing
Materials: Honduras mahogany body; cherry bed; black fabric bellows; nickeled hardware
Sizes Offered: 3¼x4¼; 4x5; 4¼x6½; 5x7; 5x8; 6½-8½; 8x10
Notes: This camera is a New Model Variation 1 that has both mono and stereo lens boards and lenses.  It may not have been called a New Model Stereo in its time, and we have no catalogs that show the New Model Stereo to have a solid base such as this.  However, it is not uncommon to find the New Model of any Variation fitted out for stereo work - they all had factory-cut notches for the installation of a septum.
