Rochester Optical Co., Rochester, NY
6½ x 8½" to 10 x 12"
Date Introduced: - ;
Years Manufactured: c.
1900
Construction: pyramidal box
Materials: mahogany body; brass hardware
Sizes Offered: at least 6 ½x8 ½ to 10x12"
Notes: This is
similar to the patent extensions manufactured by the Blair Camera Co.,
but both its connection to the camera and its spring back are identical
to ROC products. For this reason, it is thought to have been made
by ROC, probably about 1900. It is the only one seen in the last
35 years that was not a Blair product.
References:
Seemingly never advertised, as the many
catalogs available do not feature it. The idea, if not the actual
detail, is an obvious copy of
Blair's Patent Extensions.
