The Darlot View Lens is a typical single achromatic lens, in that the maximum aperture useful for photography is considerably smaller than the diameter of the glass - hence the rather small fixed aperture. This configuration gives such lenses the nickname of pillbox. Smaller apertures are inserted from the front and held in place by a metal ring. The metal lens cover also inserts from the front. The Anthony E.A. View Lens Variation 1 and the Darlot View Lens Variation 1 are identical in form.
