Notes:
One of the camera models of the Scovill Mfg. Co. / Scovill & Adams Co. that had the longest production history was the Acme Reversible Back View Camera, made in several variations from c.1878 through at least 1895. But in 1895, the Acme Landscape View Camera was offered, a model described above as a "new camera" that was similar to the Acme Reversible Back, but had two significant differences: 1) it did not have a removeable back (to easily change from vertical to horizontal format), but rather, its back was rectangular and shaped like the plates it used; it therefore required the large side tripod mount prominently shown in the engraving above, and 2) its bellows are straight, not tapered.
Its name and adverrtising date of 1895 suggest that the Acme Landscape View Camera may be a replacement for the Acme Reversible Back View Camera (advertised 1878-1895), and a precurssor of the Scovill Landscape Reversible View Camera (advertised 1896-1899). In this case, I have to wonder why they would replace one square-backed, tapered bellows model (Acme) with a rectangular-backed, straight bellows model (the Acme Landscape) for one year only, then replace that with another square-backed, tapered bellows mode (Landscape). The 1896-1899 Landscape is essentially a 1878-1895 Acme that has a more modern spring back.
