Premo Cameras, Rochester Optical Co. (Rochester, NY), undated c.1904, ~5¼x8½", 48pp
This undated catalog has the same dimensions, same title, similar camera models, and a similar cover (subject coloration and content) to the ROC Premo Cameras dated 1905. It is therefore thought to be near 1905 in date. But 1904 is already taken by a dated Premo Cameras 1904, so the most likely date for this catalog is c.1906. The 1906 hypothesis is strengthened by the observation that catalog covers for 1903 and 1904 are stylized (Toulouse-Lautrec-like), whereas the 1905 cover and this cover are very naturalistic. On the other hand, the 1905 catalog marks the earliest appearance of The Premo View Camera, and and that continues to 1912, but is not here in our mystery date catalog. Also, the mystery catalog contains the Carlton & Universal cameras on a combined page, just like the dated 1904 catalog, but the Carlton & Universal have disappeared in the 1905 & ff. catalogs. These facts trump art style, so the best guess of date is c.1904.
