When introduced in April 1891, this camera was
dubbed The Knack Detective Camera, and came in either "Antique
Oak" (wood exterior) finish, or covered in leather. By the January
1892 catalog, the leather covered option had been dropped, and the name
of the camera model was changed to The Antique Oak Detective Camera.
The configuration of landmarks (holes, knobs, doors) in the engravings
does not match the configuration of the camera itself. It could be
that the engraving was made from a preliminary camera, and the exact
configuration was different in production. References:
