Date Introduced: - ; Years Manufactured: c. 1903
Construction: back focus via push-pull; single swing; three-piece lens board; reversing by removable back
Materials: mahogany body; cherry base; black fabric bellows; brass hardware
Sizes Offered: 5x7, 5x8, 6x8, 8x10, 11x14, 14x17
Notes:  This is probably a product of the second Rochester Optical Co. (1903-1907), since it is not listed in the 1898 nor 1899 ROC catalogs.  However, it is not listed in the 1905 ROC Premo catalog (which lists other view cameras), either.  The ROC Standard was the model comparable to the Favorite for the early Rochester Optical Co. (1883-1899).  Compare to the Favorite Models of Rochester Camera Mfg. Co. and Rochester Camera & Supply Co.  The Favorite is similar in design to Scovill's Acme Back Focus Cone Camera, but its back does not niftily nest around the front when collapsed like the Acme.

It seems that all the engravings of whatever year show the ground glass springs pointing in the same direction.  This may merely be the use of an engraving that is almost correct regardless of the way the cameras were made.
