Eastman Kodak Co. (Rochester, NY)
Glass Plate
Holders - c. 1890
4
x 5 Horizontal
Notes:
These plate holders are inserted horizontally, not vertically, like most
4x5 holders of the era, which suggests the
Folding (Satchel) Kodak. The small tag (having a
hole for, but missing its string) most definitely had been attached to
the darkslide of the roll film holder which was an accessory for the
Folding Kodak, and reads: "This slide should be removed before
making an exposure. The slide need not be replaced between exposures.
Store it behind the rollholder when not in use. When turning the key to
bring a new film in place, stop the indicator with the dots against the
pointer."
