Photographic Advice, The Scovill & Adams Co. (New York, NY), undated c. 1896, ~7½"x5½", 84pp

The first 18 pages of this soft-cover booklet contains a description of how to photograph and develop, and differs little from the normal Scovill & Adams catalog, e.g., How to Make Photographs and Descriptive Price List, 1889.  The remainder is an abbreviated list of Scovill & Adams' wares.  It is not dated, but the latest American Annual of Photography & Photographic Times Almanac listed in the book is the 1895 Almanac, so this publication can be presumed to be shortly after, i.e., c. 1896.  In addition, the Klondike Gold Rush, presumably the inspiration for The Klondike box camera on page 33. started in August 1896.

LP411 is the same title, 48pp; greenish cover.
LP873 is the same title, 84pp; cream cover.
LP976 is the same title, 64pp; greenish cover.

Page 11 gives the length of exposures to be used: 1-5 seconds for full sun using the smallest diaphragm; 5-10 seconds for cloudy.  Exposures were not critical, since each negative was developed separately by the photographer under conditions that allowed the image to be observed; depending on how fast the image appeared, the development could be curtailed or extended.
